Submissions

I do work with unpublished authors, but I only take on a few new authors per year. I only take on those projects that I am very enthusiastic about. I will reject works which might otherwise be publishable if they are not on a subject I am interested in, or if there is not a good personality match with the author. It should be obvious that I will reject works that are poorly written.

I will consider novel-length (75,000-150,000 words) mysteries and historical fiction.

Please do NOT submit non-fiction, magazine articles, short story collections, books about religion (fiction or non-fiction), how-to books, or screenplays. I am also not interested in books that have already been self-published, or published through a print-on-demand or vanity publisher.

Do not send any samples or other materials to me before you receive permission to do so. Query first. My time is limited and I use your query to make the initial decision as to whether we are a good match. Feel free to query other agents at the same time. If you should decide to sign with someone else before I respond, please let me know when I do respond.

I prefer electronic submissions and I like to use the markup and comment features in Word 2003 and Word XP for revisions. So it would be useful if you learned how to use them before contacting me.

ALL SAMPLES AND FULL MANUSCRIPTS SHOULD BE IN STANDARD MANUSCRIPT FORMAT (Download Manuscript Template) AND THOROUGHLY PROOFREAD.

We are not accepting any new submissions at this time.
